Distinctly unimpressed
To say that we were unimpressed with the bucintoro would be an understatement. arriving at nearly midnight, tired after a delayed flight, we were told that not only did the hotel have no record of our reservation, but that they were fully booked and could not accommodate us. after a half-hearted attempt to find alternative accommodation (from what we could tell the hotel called only three other properties), the receptionist gleefully exclaimed that he had found us a room... but only for one night, not the three we required. horrified at the thought of moving to a new hotel each night of our stay, we asked him to try other hotels that had availability for three nights even if the price was 50 or 100 euros more. he found somewhere with a good location quickly, but then proceeded to walk us outside the hotel, point down the road and tell us to walk over five steep bridges with heavy suitcases to the new hotel. it was obvious the error was entirely the hotel's fault (this was later confirmed) and so asked if they would cover the cost of a water taxi to the new hotel. after much huffing and puffing (by the hotel rep, not us), we were told that was absolutely out of the question... what a very, very poor show. unimpressed.
