Worth it in every way..
When searching for a hotel, i specified '4 stars' 'pool' 'breakfast' and 'under £100 a night for the family of 3, not expecting much if anything to be available in july. i was right, there wasn't much. however, there was the aloft which we had passed a few months ago when staying at the ramada (docklands) and had dismissed as 'obviously out of our price range'.
this is a brilliant hotel, offering quality rooms, good range and quality of food and a friendly hard working staff that the aloft should be proud of.
the pool and sauna, supplied with fresh towels, is brilliant, like being in the tropics, the gym offers a comprehensive range of activities and is extra chilled, ideal for a hard work-out.
i always thought staying in the centre of london was important and struggled to find a deal that would't put me into a third grade hotel at first grade prices, with the superb transport links now available by tube, rail, river and cable car, the outer docklands area offers a relief from the dusty noisy centre of town and at still affordable prices.
travel costs? buy a river bus family day-ticket and use the emirates cable car for a day... or a daily off-peak travelcard (children travel free) get to stay in a brilliant hotel at a bargain price... mmmmm perhaps i should have kept quiet and kept this to myself..
