Beaches. But Menorca is not only made of Mediterranean nature but also of beautiful beaches with crystallin clear waters, on the island there are 75 beaches and 140 coves, equipped with every service or still wild. Can be divided into beaches of the south, with fine white sand, light blue sea and pine woods, and those in the north less urbanized, with reddish sand and green sea.
Among the beaches in the south there are:
Son Bou a beach of white sand almost 2.5 km long in the southern part of the island, near the village of the same name,
Cala en Bosch with clear waters and white sand,
Cala Escorxada that is located between point Sant Antoni and point de s'Avi with turquoise waters and fine white sand, it is not well equipped being very small and can be reached by a dirt track.
Cala en Turqueta is a small beach 10 kilometers from Ciutadella with crystal blue waters and white sand, has a picturesque landscape being surrounded by dense vegetation and having a really beautiful sea.
Cala Mitjana is located 7 kilometers far from the town of Ferreries and has fine white sand and crystalline clear sea, surrounded by cliffs that protect it from the winds and near there is another very small cove called Mitjaneta. Head also to
Platja de Macarella a small beach in the southern part of the island, to get there you have to walk about 1.5 km on foot on a dirt path but you have to see this beach because it is one of the most beautiful beaches of Menorca both for sea and landscape.
The beaches of the north that we recommend are:
Cala Pregonda with its coarse golden sand beach and transparent sea water, the golden sandy beach of
Arenal d'en Castel almost circular in shape, is equipped with umbrellas and sun beds, nearby there are restaurants and bars. The beach of
Cala Tirant is definitely not to be missed for its shoreline of fine golden sand and green clear sea water and the facilities that allow you to practice water sports such as surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach of
Cavalleria is far from the tourist facilities but offers a unique, soft red sandy and green sea with clear transparent water, near the beach there are pools of red mud used for beauty treatments which you can make use of.
