Review on tower hotel

The hotel is very well situated with a great view of the thames and the tower bridge. rooms were kept nice and clean, my only complaint would be that we paid £250 for a standard room and there was no fridge in the room. other than this breakfast was good and we were able to check in earlier than the normal check in time and leave our bags with the concierge when we checked out. would definitely come back to this hotel and recommend to friends.

Worth it for the view alone

The location of the hotel a mere 5 mins walk from tower hill tube station makes it a grewat location for exploring london. the hotel has a lovely reception and the breakfast area and bar are great as well. the view from the bar at night over tower bridge and the shard is absolutely fantastic. we were lucky enough to get a room on the 7th floor with the same view over the bridge etc. the room was a bit tired in terms of decor but so what, you dont go to london to spend time sitting in your room. it was clean, the staff were great and the breakfast was fantastic.....overall a great value for money hotel.

Best bridge view in london?

You could not have a better view of tower bridge either from the xi bar or the brasserie restaurant. don't let the hotel's external appearance give you the wrong impression. the public areas are first class although some of the rooms are showing their age. presumably its change to an amba hotel will cure the few minuses there are.

Nice hotel located overlooking the thames next to tower bridge and the tower of london. rooms ok - carpets are a bit dated as are the bathrooms to a certain extent. nice view of the thames from our room even though not of tower bridge. didnt eat at the hotel except for breakfast - average buffet no wow factor although they did serve you tea/coffee at your table.

Best views in london

Just had a weekend in london staying at the tower hotel, tower bridge. this was our first stay at this hotel but it will now be top of the list when looking for accommodation in london. the location of the hotel couldn't be better with fantastic views of the tower of london, tower bridge and st. katherine's dock. st. katherine's dock is literally next to the hotel with its bars and restaurants, tower hill tube station is just a few minutes walk from the hotel as is tower gateway dlr station giving access to canary wharf, westfield shopping centre and the o2. the hotel itself is of a high standard. the staff are courteous and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and well equipped, the bar has a wonderful view of tower bridge, which is especially attractive when lit up at night and there is a good selection of both hot and cold food served at breakfast, which is served until 11:00 on a sunday. a good all round hotel in an excellent location.

Wasn't expecting too much for the price i paid, thought there might be a catch, but was pleasantly surprised. on arrival i was asked if i had a preference of low or high floor an dmy grabddaughter squeeled @oh high please!'although there was no room ready for us (it was 9.30am), we were able to leave our bag and on returning at 12 noon we were able to go to our room on the 8th floor. lovely view of st katherines docks. room was great, twin beds, clean, mini bar, ironing board, hair dryer, what else would you need. breakfast was fantastic, choice of 2 resaraunts to sit at, we chose one on the first floor looking over docks. plenty of choice, cold or hot. check out was done in seconds and again we were able to leave bags until later that day. no complaints what so ever!!

Average is probably the fairest review i can give the hotel. between us we had three rooms booked for the weekend and although they were the same cost they differed from each other considerably. room one was tired but everything worked room 2 was more modern but air con and two lights didn't room 3 was somewhere in the middle. location wise it's great. easy transport routes to the west end and quiet enough around the dock to feel that you have got away from it all.

Superb views

We asked for a river view, and we got a river view. the hotel was pleasant with welcoming staff. the lifts were a little slow, so we took the rear stairs, these were in need of attention. the air con worked well, but the stains on the carpet near the bed were a little disapointing. however, the bed was so comfortable we didn't want to get up. breakfast was agreeable, although the sausages were great, the bacon was a bit of a let down. i would go back, the wake up view included the tower bridge and altogether we were disapointed we had to go so soon.

An october break in london

On arrival at the hotel we were told that we had been allocated a room on the first floor which was not yet available but at an additional cost we could have immediate access to a room on a higher floor with better views. we declined the offer, went sightseeing and on our return was again told we could have a room on a higher floor at additional cost, again we declined but despite this was allocated a room on the 8th floor. the hotel was let down by the standard of the room ,the towel radiator did not work nor did the air conditioning/heating, this though was off set by the great view of tower bridge. the hotel however is in a great location. we visited the tower of london, hms belfast, natural history museum, victoria and albert museum and oxford street. on the sunday morning we enjoyed walks along the thames to the millenium bridge and st pauls and the globe theatre. for a cheap drink their is a wetherspoons at the other side of the thames, you can't miss it. the hotel provides a service for leaving your bags while waiting for your room and on departure when waiting for your transport home.

Fantastic hotel and location

Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location, within easy walking distance of butlers wharf, the shads, hms belfast, tower of london. rv1 bus route runs right past the hotel providing links to many places including covent garden - easy walk to underground station. hotel staff were excellent and very accommodating. breakfast was suberb - although a lengthy queue for breakfast but it moved along very quickly. looking forward to staying here again later in the year.

Location location location

a pleasing hotel experience. corteous & helpful staff contributing to an enjoyable three night stay. good spacious room with excellent view of the thames & tower bridge. room clean & tidy. decor a bit dated but a makeover seems to be underway. a couple of small gripes though - the breakfast spread was excellent although the cooked food was cold. this was also experienced dining in the carvery - good food but served on the cold side.

Tower hotel

Situated in the perfect spot every room has a view of either the river thames or st katherines dock. the hotel is improving since it was taken over by the gormon grouop and is hard to fault. staff were curtieous and helpful. my tip is to search the web for the best deals. we found ours at hotelsclick.com

Review of the tower hotel

This hotel is in a fantastic location. right next to the tower of london and tower bridge. the bar offers a great view of tower bridge whilst you're having a drink. rooms are very cosy and comfortable. i would recommend this for the location alone.

Fantastic view-pity about the breakfast queue

I stayed here many times when it was new in the 70's and it is a sad reflection now . the new owners seem to be slowly upgrading the rooms but bits are quite tatty. it was very busy indeed and we had to queue for 20 mins for what was a pretty average breakfast. the breakfast head waitress was a bright spot however. parking was handy for us on this occasion but £20 per day after discount the lifts were always inadequate when it is busy but some friendly staff did their best by taking us up the service elevator

Weekend away

I love the location of this hotel. waking up to look out across the thames is really beautiful and the tower bridge is so spectacular. there are lots of restaurants along the river and through the st katherine wharf behind the hotel. the hotel itself is handsome and well appointed. some of the staff let the hotel down. we were asked at reception if we wanted to upgrade our standard room to have a river view. we looked interested but didn't commit. the receptionist then said "okay that will be an extra £30 per day". we turned it down. when we got to our room which was lovely with a stunning view over the river, the phone rang and it was the receptionist. she asked if we liked our room and i said it was really nice and we were happy. she then said "okay, then you will be happy to pay the upgrade rate of an additional £30 per day." i said no we didn't ask for an upgrade and she said "okay i won't charge you then" ! it was totally bizarre and very annoying after our long journey. even more annoying was when we came to check out and found she had put it on the bill anyway! it took half an hour to have it taken off. we felt the staff must be on some kind of commission and we really felt that this lady was trying to pull a fast one. very unprofessional.

Great location - fabulous view!

Now the guoman tower hotel, and situated right on the river thames next to tower bridge, this hotel has a fabulous location and is ideally placed for exploring london. even though i arrived immediately after a coach load of tourists and was confronted by a massive check in queue, the seven receptionists working flat out managed to check me in within 20 minutes with great charm and efficiency. i was also able to park my car effortlessly right outside the hotel and the normal daily charge of £60 was reduced for me as a resident to £20 which, for 24 hour parking in london, is great value. the rooms are excellently appointed with very smart bathrooms and most of them have wonderful views over tower bridge. although i didn't use the actual restaurant, apart from a full english breakfast which was first class, i did attend a corporate gala ball there and the four course dinner and service at this was of gourmet standard throughout. this is an hotel i can thoroughly recommend and i shall certainly use it again and of course book through hotelsclick who were able to offer me a deal better than booking with the hotel directly.

Rooms can be hit and miss!

If you are unhappy with your room, complain. we were allocated a smoking, twin room when we wanted a non smoking double. the room reaked of smoke and was changed when we complained. some rooms are very tatty! excellent breakfast included in the excellent price we achieved from this website. it is a fair walk to the tube stations but a pleasant one by the thames. public areas are fine and there are some stunning views of tower bridge. all in all a reasonable stay after our room change in a buzzing part of london but the rooms can be very expensive if you aree not careful and not worth paying a high price for.

Thistle review..

This is the second time i have stayed here recently and on both occasions i have been disapointed. for the price, the rooms are poor and in need of an update, the reception staff were difficult to understand and i was awoken at 6pm to be asked if i was staying that night. after the first day i left some money in my room that was gone when i returned in the evening, about £ 4 in change.i will not be returning.

The good, the bad and the grotty

The hotel is in an excellent location for views of tower bridge and st katharines dock. the hotel website claimed all of their 500+ rooms had been refurbished with plasma tv's. it didn't say that in fact they have around 700 rooms and we were put in a room that was badly in need of refurbishment. the bed was clean and the shower was powerful, but the decor was tatty, the window frames and phone looked like they were nicotine stained brown, although it was a no smoking room. there had once been a room bar, but the fridge did not work and was sealed shut. basic tea and coffee were supplied, no biscuits. when you see the downstairs of the hotel you cannot believe there could be shuch shabby rooms upstairs. the breakfast was very good, although both mornings we had to queue for about 10 minutes to get into breakfast, a lot of people complained. wonderful views from the bar, but 4 drinks cost £21.00. it is a little bit far out if you want to spend time in covent garden or regent street, we spent a fortune on taxis as the weather was scorching and the heat was unbearable on the tube. we did enjoy our stay, but will not be returning to this hotel, unless we could guarantee a refurbishe room.

Lucky to escape alive

Bit nervous as first booking with hotelclicks.com as the price seemed so competitive. no problems however booking in. all prepaid location first class. rooms ok. good breakfast. the big problem for me was the fire alarm going off at 1am. the fire bell by my room did not work!!!!! i eventually was woken by a distant alarm. at this point everybody had evacuated and 2 fire engines had arrived. fortunately the alarm was only caused by the false activation of a break glass unit. reported it in the morning once i eventually found somebody that was interested and could speak english!!!

London weekend break

With just an overnight stop it is difficult to give a full review. but i stayed in a single room which had an excellent view of the tower bridge. my parents also travelled with me and thought their double room was clean with a good view but i did request a room as near to the lifts as possible as my parents are both 82 and have difficulty walking. their room was no. 577 and was a long walk from the lifts. the concierge and his assistants were very very helpful.

Poor quality for the money

After waiting 45 minutes to book in i was given a twin room instead of a double. i went down to reception to complain but the queues were so long i gave up and decided to push the beds together. this room was dirty, tatty with a very basic bathroom. to be fair the next day i complained and was given an upgraded double executive room with a great view over tower bridge. i thought that room service was extortionate (far too expensive to warrant using) the breakfast was top notch as other reviews say you can get a lot better for your money - but you would be hard pressed to beat the location

Overnight 3rd feb 2007

I have mixed feelings about my stay...it was the ideal location for us, on arrival everyonr welcoming but not once were we made aware that we would have to pay for the car parking until we literally arrived at the hotel..it was not in any hotel information which i think is quite important.the room was adequate but as i point out below the lighting was too dark, and the minibar was completely empty!!!! no drinks no snacks!!!! also the toilet flush was leaking constantly there fore a wet floor the whole time!! it also appeared to come from the bath itself also! having said this, had these problems not arisen the stay would have been perfect and i would reccomend the hotel...as they were there i am reluctant to recommend the hotel.
