A hotel with a lot of character state run and therefore no concept of customer service. the swimming pool is unique but no towel service. the restaurants are interesting and the menu is reasonably priced but the food is average and service is slow. the bar area with its view is good and the service was good with music most of the time.
the breakfasts were just ok but little change in food over the 10 days there
one wing of the hotel is closed for renovations but seems to be out of commission for a long time
the bathroom is ok but there was never any shampoo
the location is good and our room had a great view of the malecon
before arriving in the hotel i tried to contact it on many occasions but could not. it has no email address and it is impossible to get through by telephone.
I paid almost £100 for this room because the only other one i could find that night (after a three hour on line search) in a hotel was £250. i wish i had spent the £250. the hotel atrium was leaking water when we arrived. the first room stank of smoke. the second room smelt (and was) damp. the window of the room had installation foam leaking from it but sill let in air enough to move the curtains. the sheets were clean but stained. the pillows were terrible. there were small ants on the surfaces of the furniture. only one lift of three was working. the swimming pool was empty. the receptionists looked and acted as if they had been forced to chew wasps. the only good thing was that we could walk to the meila next door.
