Discover Fussen
Füssen is a town in Bavaria, Germany, in the district of Ostallgäu, to the border with Austria. To the east it borders with the town of Lech in German. .The oldest fresco in Germany can be found in the crypt of St Mang's Basilica. It dates back to about the year 980. St Mang's Feast Day, 6 September, is commemorated with a Holy Mass followed by a procession by torchlight through the old part of the city. The High Castle houses a branch gallery of the Bavarian State Collections of Paintings, which focuses on late Gothic and Renaissance works of art. The city's origins date back to Roman times and today you can find many fountains in the historic center, shops and the city walls, still well preserved. The most important places of cultural interest are the castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein The Hohes Schloss, in Gothic-Renaissance style, in which, of particular interest is the so-called Hall of Knights with its ceiling drawers with the findings of the Diocese of St. Ulrich and Afra Simpert and the Mother of God.
