Cayo Santa Maria is an island situated in the northern coast of Cuba, towards the Bahamas. It’s about 8 miles long, and it’s known to be one of the jewels of the Jardines del Rey archipelago, which consists of 2500 small atolls covered in white sand that are surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.Cayo Santa Maria is the ideal place to spend the holidays in Cuba and discover its fauna and flora. This island is also known for its white sand beaches and the many luxury resorts. For these peculiar characteristics, UNESCO has listed the Cayo Santa Maria atoll as a Biosphere Reserve.
How to get to Cayo Santa Maria
Cayo Santa Maria is situated at west of Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo and it’s connected to Cuba by a 30 miles highway above-the-sea, named El Pedraplen; once in Cayo Santa Maria, the road goes on to Cayo Las Bruias and Cayo Ensenachos, and ends up in the village of Caibarièn.Marine fauna
