Some of the best service we have ever had

This is an absolute gem of a hotel with beautiful 1930's features and modern comfort working well together near enough to the centre to walk but far enough away to gain a quiet stay our room was perfect but the thing that made this a superb hotel was simply the staff - all did their jobs smoothly, and could not help more. well done to them all !!

Fantastic stay at hotel britania.

Stayed for one week in march. the hotel is in a good central position. it is spotlessly clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. the breakfast is excellent and it is served up to mid-day which is great if you like a lie in. we loved this hotel it really made the holiday enjoyable.

Art deco style with five star service from friendly helpful staff

We stayed 3 nights here in oct/nov 2013 and wished we could have stayed longer. all staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and beautifully appointed with portuguese art deco fittings and furnishings. buffet breakfast was extensive and delicious, served with a quiet background of piano music. the many 'little' extras they give here really add to the experience, like the free wifi, being able to print out documents for free, the good quality white tea and delicious pastries provided free every early evening. the location is excellent, in a quiet street right next to avenida da liberdade and just a ten minute stroll from rossio and restauradores.

Excellent stay

Excellent stay at this hotel. staff were very good and deserve a mention, as they were so very nice helpful and friendly. the hotel is in a really good location to reach all attractions. it was very clean, and comfortable. we think this hotel is the best we have stayed in in lisbon, and we have previously stayed in five star hotels.

Spacious rooms and great staff

Very helpful staff. as we stopped just after turning off avenida, from the metro, a porter asked if we were looking for the hotel and if so could he take our bags. nice touch. receptionist friendly but seemed a bit preoccupied with explaining which tour buses we should talk than the fact that the room safe needed a key or giving us the wi fi address. bar man that night really friendly and informative. this is an old converted building so there is plenty of space. the bedroom was really big. also very quiet despite being street facing (quiet street) and only second floor. not too far from the main sites, especially given the available nearby metro station.

Hotel britania - a lisbon gem

This beautifully preserved 1940's art deco hotel is conveniently situated near avenida metro just two stops from the centre of downtown lisbon. the airport bus also stops at avenida. our room was spacious, spotless and comfortable - the complementary decanter of port a nice touch. the continental breakfast was fresh and tasty. although there is not a restaurant for evening meals at the hotel the nearby cerverjaria ribadouro is a good choice and there are many places just a hop away in downtown. the staff are courteous, freindly and helpful - especially when helping us when we lost a wallet (ps be very careful on the trams). lisbon itself is a wonderful city, lots to see and do for young and old, good food and wine, easy to get around and very freindly as well. the hotel is not cheap but it is value for money in our view. the only people i would not especially recommend the hotel for are families with young children.

Excellent stay

I think this is possibly the best hotel i have ever stayed in. chosen mainly for the art deco - which was stunning - the customer service was just excellent. we were made to feel genuinely very welcome and no request was too much trouble. the breakfast is very good - and goes on to 12 - hooray! the public rooms were always full they were so nice and the bedrooms very big and comfortable.

Lovely stay in lisbon

We chose the britania , at lease partly, on the strength of other guests' reviews, and we were not disappointed. the hotel was first class in location, service, breakfasts. we chose a superior room and it was very large and comfortable, and quiet. we arrived on the airport bus, not knowing exactly where the hotel was in relation to the bus stop, but it was very close. there were plenty of restaurants in the area or just down line by metro, though some were rather too focussed on seafood for us. on a return visit we would be better orientated for finding ones to please us. we made the trip to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday; the hotel staff picked up on this and provided a bottle of bubbly and a birthday card, which was a lovely touch. the wifi signal was a bit variable, but overall we were happy that we could get connected, which was very important to us. if you want a nice view from the window, then you won't get it here, but we were out all day anyhow, so we did not expect a sea view. if we return to lisbon, we would be very keen to stay at the same hotel.

Absolute delight.

My husband and i spent 3 nights in the britania and very quickly appreciated that it is quite simply a gem of an hotel. absolutely every service is carried out by superbly trained staff, all of whom spoke english, many fluently. each day started with a delicious breakfast, elegantly laid out and continuously replenished, was punctuated early evening with complimentary tisane with portugese tartlets and ended with either port or sherry, also complimentary, in the library. perfect!

50th birthday

A lovely art deco hotel - immaculate. location quiet although situated between offices which is a shame as detracts from external features and provides undesirable view! pleasant walk to main boulevard and restaurants/nightlife.

Excellent service

This was my first trip to a 4 star hotelfor my girlfriend's 21st but i was not expecting the level of service that i received. the rooms were spacious and very comfortable (the bed was a bit firm for my liking but i'm being picky) and spotless. the inclusive breakfast had a great selection but the best part was the receptionist (we titled him dave). we tried speaking our very limited portuguese but he spoke better english than i did, recommended a fantastic restaurant and made us feel as if nothing was too much hassle.
