Good in parts!

We arrived here as booked only to be sent to the sister hotel blau varadero, so not a very good start! the next day we were moved back to blau marina resort and although we were upgraded to sea view rooms, we had pretty much lost a day and a half of our 5 day stay. the rooms were nice and well kept and cleaned daily. we were lucky to be in block 16 which was close to the main building so not too far to walk. location is great, right on a lovely beach but if, as was the case with us, the weather is not good, there is absolutely nothing else to do! the only lounge area was in the lobby so a) very crowded and busy and b) open to the elements so very cold and draughty when it is windy. this was our biggest complaint about the hotel, otherwise there are three pools, one of which doesn't have loud music and all sorts of noisy activities going on, which is good - and is also more sheltered to a welcome relief from the very strong winds on the beach. food is what you would expect at a standard all-inclusive and the dining room generally worked well although a lot of time was spent tracking down plates and bowls at most meals! our daughters, in their 20's were perfectly happy with the resort. to sum up, its not a 5* as you would expect in most other countries but i guess a 5* standard for cuba and in good weather would be great. if you are going in winter and don't have children, i would suggest you stay at the blau varadero instead as the inside communal areas are much nicer.
