The Dominican Republic occupies most of the island of Hispaniola, located in the Caribbean Sea, and borders to the west with Haiti, the other State of the island, while to the east it is separated from Puerto Rico from the Channel Mona.
The climate of the Dominican Republic is mostly tropical and the average temperature is 25 °C, although it varies depending on the altitude. The wet season is concentrated between November and January along the northern coast.

The capital city, which concentrates the majority of the population, is Santo Domingo, but other important cities are Santiago de los Caballeros and La Romana.
The official language is Spanish, although other languages ​​are spoken: the Haitian Creole and Samaná English, a kind of dialect derived from English that developed in the Samaná Peninsula.
The population is mostly multiracial, but there are many minorities such as the Haitian one.
