Albania, officially known as the Republic of Albania, Republika e Shqipërisë in Albanian, is a state located in the Balkan Peninsula in south-eastern Europe. It is bordered to the north-west by Montenegro to the north-east by Kosovo, Macedonia to the east and Greece in the south. Its coastline borders the Adriatic Sea and Ionian Seas. Albanian is the official language of Albania. Its standard spoken and written form is revised and merged from the two main dialects, Gheg and Tosk. According to 2011 census, 58.79% of Albania adheres to Islam, making it the largest Religion in the country. The majority of Albanian Muslims are Secular Sunni with a significant Bektashi Shia minority. Football is the most popular sport in Albania, both at a participatory and spectator level.
