Vacation

The hotel is beautiful. the architecture is very impressive but unfortunately not made for rain. the maid service was excellent and the rooms were cleaned daily. the food was excellent in all the restaurants except the japanese which service was very slow, taking 1 1/2 hours to get a drink and 3 hours to get meal. the staff, including bartenders, waiters, and waitresses were top notch and couldn't do enough. the entertainment staff was exceptional. they kept guests busy during the day with activities and at night performed a show. the disco is very good also. the only complaint i have is with hotel management...they need to address and repair the leaks when it rains. it rained for 6 days of my trip and the hotel literally had flooding and first floor guests had to be moved upstairs. inside the hotel lobby and the center bar area along with the music room had rain coming down like if you were outside. it was coming onto tables and chairs creating a damp mildew smell and the floors were so slippery that i saw a guest fall and i myself almost fell at least 15 times. buckets were everywhere and water was coming down thru recessed lights over food in the seafood/steakhouse buffet area going right onto the food and was never removed. it also happened in the mexican restaurant. i took pictures as proof and many guests who were regulars more than 5 visits said they would not be returning until they addressed these issues. also i paid more to stay at the maya yet the shows were held in the lindo so when it rained, you could not go. they do have golf carts that can take you but they don't seem to be available as they say and when we asked we were told it was raining too heavy to take us so we sat doing nothing for over 3 days before they decided to bring activities indoors to occupy the guests. again the staff and entertainment team are excellent and without them, the hotel would have nothing to offer. the pool is also very beautiful and big. the ocean and beach area are also good.
