Excellent new year break

Millenium gloucester road was a very comfortable and convenient destination for new year. ideally located just two minutes from the tube, and only 3 stops from victoria, entering the hotel you get an immediate sense of luxury and calm. rooms are well equipped and comfortable, and breakfast offered a vast choice of dishes both hot and cold.

Nice

the hotel is lovely and it was very clean but there were a couple of issues which we felt that a 4 star hotel shouldn't have had. our rooms were on the second floor and they faced the kitchen area!!! which wasn't very quiet or very private, so movement of staff was heard as well as trolleys etc. the other issue was the lifts... it sounds petty but we waited for over 10 mins for a lift to arrive and they kept going past our floor to the floors above. its not like you can use the stairs we had trouble finding them and when we did because we got fed up with waiting they were definitely not 4 star quality no wonder they hid them away, seriously though this could be considered a fire danger as it wasn't easy to find them.

Good location, good price

Good quality hotel right next to tube and in walking distance of the kensington museums. checking in takes too long. why when we've given all our details to hotels click do we have to repeat them all for the hotel? after a long journey i don't want to stand at reception for 20mins. the hotel thought my friends' double room was booked for one with only breakfast for one initially! who's **** up? hotel's or hotelsclick's. breakfast was phenomenally busy and big queues built up. i avoided them but wouldn't have rated it so high if had been stuck in it. no muesli at breakfast!!

Enjoyable stay at the millennium gloucester hotel, kensington.

We were moved to this hotel from one nearer the city centre but it was only the difference of a couple of stops on the tube. the hotel was excellent value for a four star especially as it was mid term and valentine's night. the hotel was full but check in and out was speedy. our twin room was very clean and spacious and well furnished. the beds were very comfortable. we had tea and coffee in the room and a lovely, spotlessly clean bathroom. we called reception and a service engineer came promptly to sort the television for us. although i only paid for a continental breakfast, we had access to a full cooked breakfast all of which was fresh and beautifully cooked. the concierge stored our bags on our departure day. i would definitely recommend this hotel.

Good staff service / noisy & stuffy room

The 1st floor room i was in was facing a busy road and the window was badly fitted or insulated, so you could hear not just the traffic noise but conversations from people in the street. it was hard to fall asleep. the room was smelling of dust from the carpet making it difficult to breathe properly throughout the night. i woke up with a stuffy nose. the staff at the reception (during check-in/out) was friendly and polite. the food served in the conservatory at the top was very good.

Weekend away

The reception staffs were very curt and not very informative; we weren’t sure where we had to go for breakfast. the rooms was clean but very tired looking, dirty scuff marks on the walls, handle missing from the wardrobe doors and not able to shut them properly. the phone had lost all the numbers so we couldn’t call down in the morning to see where breakfast was being served. at breakfast i asked for earl grey and when it came up there were two tea bags in the pot and both the string and label were in the pot of water. the buffet was very limited if you had food allergies and was not very well stocked we had to ask for it to be refilled

Stay 6th-8thmarch well worth a visit!

My husband and i stayed at the millenium gloucester for 2 nights whilst meeting up with a family member. we were very impressed with the location of the hotel which is literally one minute from the tube- my husband has difficulty walking so this was great.we are retired. there are steps at the gloucester road tube but a lift to parially offset this. the hotel was excellent. we had a lovely quiet room with all facilities including towel dressing gowns and slippers besides the usual tea/coffee making faciliities, tv etc. the staff were friendly and courteous and really helpful. breakfast too was very good and catered for foreign tourists as well as the traditional english fayre. on shrove tuesday pancakes were provided in the late afternoon in the foyer by the chef free of charge. an excellent stay. we would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Excellent hotel

Stayed at this hotel from 4th to 7th march 2011. this was our second visit to the millennium gloucester and once again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. we arrived at about 10am only expecting to be able to leave our bags and return later to check in but were delighted to be allocated a room straight away. the room (415) was somewhat smaller that the one we had stayed in on our previous visit but was clean and comfortable. the staff at the millennium always greet you with a smile and are helpful and efficient. the other great thing about the gloucester is location location location. gloucester road tube station is next door and offers easy access to all areas of london - looking forward to the next visit already.

Valentines in london

We stayed at the millenium gloucester on valentines night. one of the few nights we get a year away from the kids. the hotel is very well situated within a couple of minutes of gloucester rd tube and a long but pleasent stroll along the compton road to the natural history and v & a museums. harrods, with it's amazing ice cream parlour is about 10 minutes further on but worth the effort! when we arrvied we were offered the chance to upgrade to a business club room for £20 which we were happy to do as we got to check in 2 hours earlier and had a bigger room and bed. the room was very comfortbale and generous in size. big tv, plenty of storage and lovely big bed. staff were really helpful and friendly. one warning, put the do not disturb light on before you go to bed as we had a maid come in at 8:30am which was a bit ridiculous. all in all, a very good hotel that, for the money, was great value.

Excellent hotel within a ideal area for touring london. the staff were friendly and professional the room was the basic but was well priced and comfortable with an excellent bathroom. the food, especially breakfast, was what you would expect from such a high class hotel and the parking next to the hotel was a big bonus although a tad expensive.

Great hotel

Millennium gloucester i stayed there with my friend from the 3rd to the 11th of august 2008. i rate this hotel as excellent for a number of reasons. however, there was one item which caused a bit of trouble. but, over all for safety, location, convenience, cleanliness, and efficiency i do rate it very high. i rate safety as a very important factor in this or any hotel. traveling abroad, often alone or with another middle aged female, safety is my first concern. the location is in an excellent area of kensington, in a high market real estate district, but with several other very nice hotels nearby, so there always were lots of tourists around, as well as locals since the area is surrounded by these very nice neighborhoods. our room was across from a large and well cared for apartment, which had a huge garden area. i can only imagine the cost for living there. though i was never out very late or alone at night, the latest being just after 11 pm, and still the whole area seemed alive with people coming and going from restaurants, the tube, shops, other hotels and homes. so for safety of moving around on my own, i always felt very comfortable. also the hotel seems to attract a rather upscale clientele. i got a deal, otherwise i could not have afforded the generally posted price. to find the deal required quite a bit of surfing of sites, and the range of cost went to double of what i actually paid. even with this deal it was still expensive, though other hotels i’ve used and know the value (less) were as expensive as this deal. but, you are in london. but there were apparently special areas in the hotel for “member” guests, as some of the lifts went to certain floors marked millennial club and bypassed other floors, mine included. lots of people from airlines stay there, as well as other business professionals and tourists. there was always multiple staff at the front door, a concierge desk immediately inside, and people working reception. so, help and assistance was immediately available. in the evening there was always someone playing the piano, a nice touch, but i was so tired by the end of the day, i never really sat and enjoyed it. location and convenience are something i also value as i’m on holiday and want to get out and about easily. the gloucester road tube is less than a minute’s walk away from the front door. the main entrance to the hotel is under the covered “street” which runs the length of the front of the hotel. to reach the tube, when you exit the hotel, turn left and walk to end of the covered area and you are on courtfield road, turn right and walk a very short distance—30 feet maybe--to the end of the street, cross to your left, and the tube station is just on the corner of gloucester road—another 30 or 50 feet. gloucester tube is served by the district, circle, and piccadilly lines, so reaching anywhere else in london is rarely more complicated than one tube change. just across the road was a nice selection of shops and restaurants. there was a tesco express, open 24 hours, and a waitrose grocery stores. a starbucks, burger king, and kentucky fried chicken if craving american fare, as well as a number of other cafes and restaurants, several offering carry out, probably a good dozen or so within a very short walk of a block. i think the millennium gloucester and the adjacent the bentley kempinski hotel had 4 or more restaurants associated with them. a post office was also nearby, and several places to change money and atm’s. a little farther along, at the south kensington tube station and you came to another area of shops, restaurants, businesses, etc., and at the next tubes, earls court and high street kensington, all within walking distance, if necessary, there are a wide range of shops, restaurants, businesses and entertainment venues. again, for convenience and location, i rate this hotel excellent. cleanliness is something else i highly value. staying places where others have stayed, i want someone to come in and clean thoroughly. from the outside entrance, to the lobby, to the breakfast area, to the rooms, everything was immaculate. whatever rates above excellence i’d give to this hotel on cleanliness. our room was large by london or any standards. we had 2 beds with a shared night stand, a desk and chair, a small table and chair, another chair, and separate tv stand with mini bar and coffee/tea making storage, and still plenty of space for 4 large suitcases and walking room. a separate closet provided a 3 drawer chest, as well as a hair dryer, full ironing board and iron. and a full bathroom with plenty of room. there was a huge wide screen tv in high def, with good selection of channels, including english and american, as well as most other european and arabic languages. our only problem occurred with the shower. part was my fault as it was a bit “complicated” to figure out, but water pressure from the shower was virtually nil. my first attempt at a shower and i was nearly scalded. there were 2 separate spigots for filling the tub, and separate tap for the shower. the complicated part required the pressing of a “button” to adjust the water temperature, something i didn’t see before i attempted to use, and was unable to do with the need to “squeeze” the button while turning the tap all while standing in the scalding water stream without my glasses which renders me virtually “blind” to small details. all without any sort of instructions on how to use, and as someone with arthritis, the amount of strength required to squeeze the button was a struggle. i accept partial blame, but i would suggest the hotel replace this rather complicated button, squeeze, and turn set-up with a simple hot and cold set of knobs. that was what there was for filling the tub. however, the pressure from the shower was ridiculous. it was barely more than a trickle. this even after we reported and asked for it to be fixed twice. the maintenance person came and worked on it and explained how the shower worked, but was unable to improve the pressure. when i was using it i considered requesting a room change, but decided to just deal with it rather than pack and move everything. however, in the future if this occurred again, i would expect a room change or for the pressure to be corrected. the staff was very friendly and very helpful. we had benefit of a full english breakfast buffet as part of the deal , which was quite good. a wide variety of options were offered daily, even some items geared towards asian tastes. i’d recommend this hotel to anyone. when i return to london, i hope i can afford to stay here again. however without a really good deal, not sure i can afford it.

Our stay

In general a great hotel only one problem on going to breakfast lifts extremely busy and the staff did not know where the stairs were as we were only on the 2nd floor stairs would have been good. on enquiring later at reception the only stairs they have are fire stairs to the outside and are alarmed. we did in fact wait 15mins for a lift!!!

Great weekend, good hotel!!

On a visit to earls court chose this hotel for it's location. great location not only for earls court but other parts of london as well.underground on corner of road. took afternoon tea at humpreys bar in the hotel. after a fairly long wait tea arrived and we were not dissapointed.presentation was fantastic as was the food. the scones were the best! superb!! breakfast was also good with a good variety, just felt a little packed into our seats and far to close to the people on the next table! a great selection of resturants just outside the hotel, spoilt for choice! also a great selection of eateries within the hotel. kennsington gardens and hyde park are not far away. we spent a lovely spring morning wandering around both. all in all a great weekend break, bathrooms in the hotel need seriously updating. having said that found everywhere to be very clean. many thanks to hotelsclick.com for a smooth and easy booking have used you before and will do so again. ps check in/out- efficient and quick

I had stayed at the hotel earlier in the year, as a corporate guest and was impressed with the location and food quality.i therefore had no hesitation in booking in the summer for a 2 night leisure break with my 6 year old son.the location is fabulous, barely a 2 minute stroll from gloucester road tube station, with every amienity on the door step. it is within easy walking distance of the natural history, science and v and a museums. the bus stop for the open top bus tour is just across the road and tickets can be purchased from the hotel. the children were made to feel very welcome by all the staff and my son really loved his stay.

Very nice hotel, well presented. rooms were a little small but that was most likely because it was a twin rather than a double. staff were plesant. used the concierge service to book a reservation at one of the resturants, beware they tried to charge us for the call so a visit in person might be a better idea. the bombay brasserie was the resturant we went to, having eaten meals designed by them in the past. however the meal itslef was a slight let down, food was good but for the price was not in our opinion good enough.
