I did really enjoy this central hotel. it had every bits to have a relaxing, magnificent holiday in edinburgh. the staff were extremely nice and the polish receptionist knew 6 - 7 languages. impressing! but i will absolutely come back to this nice, cosy, warm ambience hotel!

Stayed for one night only, first impressions very good. car was valet parked and checkin was quick and efficent. room was big, but decor a little dated very clean though. tv could do with updating. the hotel is in a great location near to dynamic earth, its a short walk to the high street (royal mile) and then onto the rest of edinburgh. breakfast was fine although we got it as part of a deal through hotelsclick, not sure if i would pay £15 for it. there is a £20 charge for parking, but on checkout they allowed us to leave our luggage in the hotel while we went shopping, they did not charge when we went over the 24 hours that the £20 covers. so £20 not bad for parking in edinburgh, one of the few negatives about edinburgh is the lack/cost of parking

We spent 3 nights at the macdonald holyrood hotel and really enjoyed our stay. the hotel staff were very attentive and friendly. breakfast was included in the room rate and was first class especially as the cooked breakfast was served to you. we also enjoyed dinner at the hotel as the food was delicious and they catered for children. the leisure facilities were of a good standard and the hotel is very clean. the hotel is situated just beside the scottish parliament and dynamic earth so in a good location but a little bit of a trek up the royal mile. the only downside to this hotel is the bar is very small and drinks are expensive.

We had an overnight stay at this hotel and found it very pleasant. reception staff are excellent - one member spent ages checking out train timetables for us. the room was lovely and spacious although we didn't have a good view - looking onto the car park - but for the length of time we spent in the room it wasn't a problem. we did not hear any other guests around us which is always a bonus in a hotel!! bathroom was spacious and spotlessly clean. cooked breakfast was great (i can heartily recommend the black pudding) - our only complaint at breakfast was that we were seated and then forgotten about - after 10mins we had to ask to have our order taken. overall, a beautiful hotel which i would have no hesitation in booking again.

Good all round hotel. would recommend it . very good food, excellent breakfast buffet and cooked to order. pleasant staff. hotel specially provided a large tv screen in lounge area for us to watch england draw with usa!!

Bedroom very good size for a standard room, however it was quite warm through the night and the bed wasn't that comfortable. breakfast very good with a varied selection. drinks in the bar expensive.

Modern hotel, close to station some rooms are small we had a very nice room with a good veiw this may have been because we booked with hotelclick.com not sure breakfeast was very good but had to wait for table for a sort time

The hotel was very nice. we stay at the balmoral hotel last time we visit edinburgh, but we felt we got much more value for money at holyrood.

Nice hotel with a good breakfast and kind staff. good value for money if you want to spend a few extra pounds for accomodation. suites well also for families. good quite location a short walk to the city centre.

Comfortable stay with nice atmosphere. i wished the cooked breakfast was hotter and i had to wait a long time one morning for my toast and tea. the wireless internet access in room 102 was unsatisfactory, losing the connection frequently and i ended up in the foyer. not good!

Our stay in this hotel was of the best standard, the service was of the highest standard, the rooms were fantastic and the facilities that were on offer were even better. would definately come and stay there again. breakfast in bed is a must!!

We stayed in this hotel for the wales v scotland rugby match, it was excellent, breakfast was included in our package and was excellent, service was excellent from time we arrived. we would definately use the hotel again.

The hotel was great! the rooms were lovely and the staff were friendly and efficient, everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel. the food at breakfast was also good and my friend also had dinner in the restaurant which she said was really nice.
