Short stay in istanköy

My boyfriend and i stayed in istanköy for a total of three nights the third week in may. while the rooms in one section of the hotel had recently been renovated and were chic for our standards (i'm a student in istanbul), it was a good deal considering the price we had paid when making our reservations only two weeks prior. however, our room number was 105 and there was a pool table located not two feet away from our window, which had no screen and could very easily slide to open. there were some turkish customers who played at the pool table and smoked right outside the window (and the smoke came seeping through into our room) - even after asking reception and the guys working at the bar (we had to ask twice, first my boyfriend and then me), they guys working there wouldn't do much to stop the noise. the last night we were there-- exhausted after walking the length of bodrum to look at historical sites plus venturing into neighboring gumbet -- we just wanted to sleep since we had to wake up early the next morning to catch our flight. since our room was located only 15 feet away from the outside bar, we could hear when they turned up the music around 10 at night. the bar was occupied by older british tourists who seemed to be going through a mid life crisis or end of life crisis and were singing along with the music and practically screaming - again, after asking the barman repeatedly to turn down the music, he said that he wouldn't because his customers liked it. he didn't seem to understand the fact that we were customers as well. while i understand that some people do go to bodrum to relax and have a good time, our trip was more about seeing the sites during the day, having a nice dinner at night then heading to the room about 9-10 to wind down and get some shut eye, as i'm sure most families would do while visiting. i'm not sure that this hotel knows if its catering towards the "party animal" type of customer or to the "family" type. i don't know if it even cares. also, one of the men at reception was completely unhelpful when i asked him what time the havataş left (since they change everyday and it was the cheapest way to get to the closest airport located 40 min away). he said that he had no idea and didn't even try to look into it and that he has never had a customer ask him that. there is also a parrot at the front of the hotel that i think was poorly looked after, as the whole staff would just blow on him to make him agitated in order to speak to the customers. the bird would just shiver and pick his feathers the rest of the day. all in all, i can't complain about the quality of the room for the price -- simply the proximity of the room to the open-air recreational part of the hotel was problematic and the fact that the staff did not try to help.
