Disappointing stay for what I thought would be a more luxurious hotel in Mayfair. A bedside table lamp was missing when we arrived (was replaced) which made the room seem dark and uninviting. Asked to change rooms as

On arrival at reception, we were given a standard room, although the voucher clearly stated superior (one of the reasons we chose to book). When I queried this, I was told 'I need to know how much you paid so I know what room to put you in'. I did not have this information to hand, and in any event, did not think this was appropriate. He asked his colleague for assistance and we were then given a superior room. I had asked for a quiet room, and mentioned 'one without a fan outside'. The room was very good, modern, clean and comfortable, but did have a fan outside. Following my partner's sleepless night, I asked the next day if it was possible to move to a quiet room, but the hotel was full. The breakfast was the best we had tasted in any hotel. The location was great. The TV was disappointing, as the quality of the picture was quite poor, and choice of 'free' channels was very limited.

Great location - Hotel room a bit tired looking.
Couldn't open windows to get fresh air in.
Ventilation system made too much noise at night.
Breakfast was good overall
