The Alexandra makes a great base, for a budget hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and warm (we were visiting in December) and the location quiet.
It's a bit tricky getting up to the fourth floor with luggage - the stairs are narrow and the lift is small and stops at the third floor, but this is a minor complaint considering the low cost of the room.
The breakfast is a bit basic (no whole-grain breads or cereal, or fruit) but again, when you are paying such a low amount for the room, who really minds.

The only thing going for this hotel is it's location, rooms are small and bathrooms are even smaller (can only just turn around in the shower and you can almost lean your head on the door when sitting on the toilet), an ideal place for singles but would not recommend it for couples or families. very narrow step stairs in part of hotel with no lift and also no fire escapes..... we would not recommend this hotel to any of our friends...
