Ideal location, two blocks from the station that goes direct to the Airport and one block from the Metro, it's also not far to walk to the big sights. Lots of good restaurants nearby and 24hr supermarket around the corner. Room nice with all the necesary amminities, very clean with a superb shower, shame there weren't more Engish TV channels - only 1! Staff freindly and helpful. Breakfast offered an excellent choice with lots of hot, cold, sweet, and savoury with different things each day. Swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and outside space were perfect after a hards days sight seeing. An ideal place to stay in Barcelona.

A clean and comfortable hotel with pleasant English speaking staff
Tiled floors and walls led to noisy corridors and neighbours, despite our requested quiet room
The complementary breakfasts were sensational.Fresh fruit daily,choice of breads,cereals,cold meats. Up to 25 different dishes each day. Excellent
Sadly pickpockets operate within 50 metres of the Balmes and I lost my wallet including,cards and cash. A serious downside1!

We stayed at the balmes hotel for 2 nights over a weekend at the beginning of Feb 07. We were very pleased with the location of the hotel which was a 10 min walk from a couple of different metro stations. We did not want to be right on the rambles, but it was a 15-20min walk, or a metro stop away so easy enough to get to
The hotel itself was of a nice standard, the rooms were impressive with a Super king size bed, a 2 seater leather sofa TV, mini bar. Good, powerful shower.
The breakfast room was good too with a selection of muslei, fresh fruit, ham,cheese, spanish meats, bread rolls, croisants + selection of pasteries.
Staff were very friendly, our only complaint was that the rooms were quite nosey. not from traffic outside but whenever someone flushed the toilet, turned on shower, you could hear this, our room was also located opporsite the cleaner's cupboard, so could hear her early in the morning.
WE should have really asked to be moved, but didn't, it may well have just been the loaction of our room itself as overall the hotel was very nice. If you get put in 115 ask if there is another room available!
No bar or anything in the hotel, just the breakfast room, but this wasn't a problem as we spent the evenings in and around the rambla's were there is plenty of choice of tapas, fish restaurant.
