Hotel from hell

Do not stay here. this hotel does not even deserve a one star, leave alone 2. i wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. we took one look at our room and walked out - filthy carpet, dirty walls, food on curtains, water dripping from outside onto our window, fluorescent tubes for lighting, chipboard diy shelf unpainted, portable telly with indoor aerial which didn't work, wardrobe with two headless screws as handles. do yourself a favour and don't even bother booking here.

Appalling hotel

On arrival had to queue while people complaining. one guest asked for bath plug - told they didnt have one! they didnt seem to be expecting us - despite a res. no. given room - wrong (double bed). given another room (that one didnt have towels) - wrong (double bed). booking clearly said twin and we stated twin to reception. third room - twin beds. room not clean. wallpaper hanging off wall. toilet jammed against cupboard - had to use it sideways! large iron mark on carpet. bad tv reception and some channels not available. i had plastic sheet on bed - made it v hot. had to explain why i wanted more than 3 milks for the room - more than one cuppa each. breakfast next morning - people complaining again. asked for table cloth - ours filthy. offered one paper serviette until i complained. cereal low. had to keep asking for milk, coffee, cups, glasses, cutlery, (being washed), bread (they had to go and buy that). tables piled high with dirty plates etc. one couple had waited 1 hour for their breakfast. foreign guests very upset with the english but the waiter i spoke to didnt understand or speak english properly anyway. food not good. one of the two toasters was taken away because someone else wanted toast in another part of hotel. when i turned tap on in room to clean teeth - dreadful smell of sewers and drains. made me heave. went to check out - people still complaining. receptionists not really bothered - in fact seemed to be arguing amongst themselves. have stayed here before because of location (and complained), but this year the service was worse than ever. the grand prix is on every year, but the hotel didnt seem to be able to cope.

Mini rally, mini price

We stay at this hotel every year to go on the london-brighton mini run setting off from crystal palace. it's basic accomodation but it's clean and tidy with plenty of tea and coffee supplies and let's face it,where else could you stay (especially in london)for £20 each? and of course, there's the added plus of parking. the only complaint (and it's not really a complaint) is the lack of choice at breakfast, but given that many hotels don't include breakfast in the price, i shouldn't really grumble. we'll be back same time next year!

London to brighton mini run 17 may 2009

For the price one pays for the room i would have no complaints. the room allocated was found to have a water leak from the radiator but this was very quickly resolved by a change of room. the room itself was clean and suitable for what was only to be a one night stay. this hotel was chosen for its convenience and the event we were visiting. work is ongoing improving the hotel.

Oh what a palace

Amazing! a real home from home, the smell of a gas leak outside and throughout the upper corridors made for a relaxing night on the cardboard bed on wheels waiting for the hotel to blow. you can count on the heating working as it is usually on full - although there is a lovely huge electric fan in each and every room just to kick out more heat than cool air. the bathroom is fantastic with its own take on a public wc which was extremely authentic with its range of tiles with chips, lime-scale and mould. completed further with complementary towels with stains. oh and how could i forget the shower, freezing or kettle settings are the two available options to choose from. after a hards days work you can always rely on the staff to give you the wrong card for your door just to give you a bit more exercise lugging those bags up four flights of stairs. and the full english breakfast was amazing - just up a few (oh sorry, five) flights of stairs and then pay an extra fiver for some sawdust sausages, and poached mushrooms. a five star hotel would find it hard not to keep up with the efforts of this hotel. can't wait for my boss to send me again - hopefully i wont have handed in my resignation by that time.........

Expectations

A pleasnt hoel with friendly obliging staff. however the hotel has been starved of investment so that several features are missing. eg lighr bulbs, bath plugs - broken lavatory seat. none of these are serious per se and they are reflected in the bargain price . the continental breakfast was excellent

The queens

The catering staff were rude and dirty. the so called included breakfast was cerial, bread and butter, slices of rocessed cheese and processed ham and that was it. the full english breakfast which you had to pay 5.95 for was cold, dried out and had hairs in it. not realising you had to pay at reception for full breakfast the night before we were escorted like criminals to our room by staff to make sure we paid at reception. he stood outside our room like a security guard while we packed up. while waiting for lift he demanded i gave him the money. instead of meeting us at reception or phoning them to let them know to take for so called breakfast. receptionist re-funded us fiver on complaint. but the rudeness of him was unbelievable

Unimpressed

Worst hotel room i have ever stayed in. there was no hairdryer, television did not work, bath and surround covered in mold, shower head hanging off wall, shower head leaking. despite repeated requested to the reception (6) nothing was done. continuing noise from corridor outside room. breakfast was disgusting. would defintely not recommend and not return.
