To be a cheap hotel Avni Courtfield was very good. Nice rooms, ok staff and, food as you expect.

You do not want to have to stay in this hotel any longer than is necessary. Two rooms booked.
1. First double room offered was airless & stuffy- window could not be opened, it was sealed, so we complained, & got a more acceptable room. 2. However, of two lights in ceiling, one blown, & no bedside lamp, despite 2 requests. 3. TV reception terrible- unwatchable. 4 Shower water backed up & almost overflowed, I had to manually clear blockage (by hand pumping). 5. No mirror over wash basin. No wash basin stopper. 6. A second room (twin) rented, was missing its key, & reception staff had to open the door with a master key each time- very inconvenient. Same unwatchable TV reception. Despite these negatives, the rooms were clean, with clean bedding, & towels changed daily. Breakfast was continental, & was fine, but closed off after 9:30 am sharp.

A very nice and clean hotel with comfortable rooms. The breakfast is also good and with fresh fruit.
There is free Internet in the lobby, which we used a lot.
It was irritating, that the lock to our room didn't work, so every time we came in the staff had to open the door.

L'Hotel pur situato in una zona tranquilla e comoda per il raggiungimento della Metropolitana lascia un pò a desiderare, considerando che è un 3 stelle!
All'arrivo in Hotel una stanza era gelata mentre l'altra era bollente. In quattro giorni le lenzuola non sono mai state cambiate, il bagno mai pulito, in una camera c'era un ventilatore con la protezione staccata e mai nessuno nei 4 giorni si è degnato di sistemarla, le stanze e i servizi sono micro, se sei in due persone ti devi muovere uno alla volta.
Per quanto riguarda la Reception, questa è molto assente in quanto le domande non sempre hanno avuto una risposta concreta (se mettevano un distributore automatico con le varie lingue sarebbe stato meglio!!!!).
Ottimo il servizio Internet offerto in quanto dalla nostra stanza si poteva tranquillamente utilizzare la rete Wireless dell'Hotel liberamente.
La Colazione Inglese a buffet viene fatta in uno scantinato sotto l'Hotel, nell'insieme comunque è abbastanza positiva.

Rete Wireless e la possibilità di raggiungere la Metropolitana in 5 min.

all'arrivo, circa alle 11.30 a.m, non ci hanno consegnato le camere in quanto non erano ancora pulite fino alle 14.00. Avevamo prenotato due camere doppie e una culla per un bambino di 2 anni: la signorina, nonostante sul voucher ci fosse la conferma, non ci ha fornito la culla perchè "non disponibile". Per farla breve abbiamo dormito per 3 notti in 3 in un letto ad una piazza e mezza!!! comodissimi!!!
In più l'altra camera venduta come doppia era in realtà una camera singola dove si faceva fatica a girare e per di più freddissima!!

The room was small but very clean and new. Great! The bathroom was brand new, too. But they could do a better job with the mildew in the shower and better clean the toilets (the inside). But it wasn't bad. It just wasn't perfect.

Breakfast was good - except for the coffee (Nescafe! ick!)

The location is great though. The people are very nice and helpful. It's close to the tube.

And it has WLAN!

Have stayed at the Avni before. Reason for returning was the clean, modern, fresh decor. This is important to me and something hard to find in London at this price. The Continental breakfast has a good choice as opposed to the token effort I have seen in other London hotels.
One thing did blight my stay which will probably stop me returning though. I arrived at 11:30am and was told room not ready and to return after 2pm. I was OK with that- however when returned at 4pm told my room was not available due to maintenance and therefore I was being relocated to another property for the first night of my two night stay. I was disppointed when heard this as was looking forward to settling into my room at the Avni but reassured other accom at Lily Hotel would still be of a good comparable standard. Was given as a form of rebate GBP10 to cover cab fare. Unfortunately the room given at my next hotel can only be described as a dump. Electrical wiring exposed, filthy carpet and bedding. Lacking basic facilities- kettle, tv. Single bed too big for the room jutted out into entry surely a fire hazard. Staff unconcerned when I approached them with my concerns.

The next day when I went to the Avni I still had to wait until "after 2pm" to get my room key. I appreciate the Avni was in a difficult situation during a "maintenance emergency" and reception staff were very apologetic. That said, after this unpleasant experience, will unlikely return to Avni on next trip to London at Christmas.

The hotel was in a good location, 5 minutes walk from the underground and a few bars and restaurants close by. The decor and cleanliness were above average. breakfast was limited but good. The hotel room was very strange, there was a narrow spiral staircase in the room which was very dangerous and very hard to drag the cases up and down. The dressing table had no mirror therefore no where to sit and do make up or hair. overall the hotel was fine, close to the centre and a good 3 star.

Avni Courtfield is a nice place with very good cleaning and an incredibly nice staff. Our room was fine for just sleeping/kicking back in, but it was too small to do anything else. Bathroom was a nice size and with good facilities. The hairdryer (located in the room) is stupid, as the cord cannot reach to the nearest mirror. Our room was located on the third floor, directed towards the streets, which meant a lot of noise continuesly (also in the evening).

Our stay was fine and Avni Courtfield makes a good appearance, but the rooms are just a bit too "uncozy" for me to recommend this hotel to friends and family.

This hotel is in a great location, in a beautiful area of Kensington. The hotel itself is just ok. The room was a little bit random, with a small kitchen area and then a spiral staircase up to the bedroom. The room was nice and quite big and the ensuite was fine. With the heat on the room was too hot but there wasn't enough bed clothes without it. The breakfast was very poor, not worth getting up for and the service in the dinning area was quite rude, rushing people out by 9.45.

Me and my daughter were lucky, we got a really large room on the fifth floor. Simple, rather minimalistic, clean and with everything you expect from a small and rather cheap hotel. BUT, much too warm... And this was April, can´t imagine what it will be like in the summer! Breakfast was OK. Good place to stay for a shopping weekend in London - but probably not in the summer unless they do something about the indoor climate...

The hotel was very clean, nicely decorated and furnished very modernly. The only down side is the size of the rooms. It was a squeeze to get into the bathroom!

Stayed with my wife at the Avni Courtfield hotel for an extended week-end in march 2007. The hotel is conviniently close to Gloucester Road underground station and it's possilble to even walk into Piccadilly circus in half an hour, if walking fast. When we arrived on a thursday night the reception could not find our booking. When the receptionist found it at last he didn't know how to activate the key-card. Well we got to our room at last, it was really small but clean and tidy. Although, the curtains were missing so we couldn't get it dark in the room. Our last night before leaving the key-card had stopped working so we couldn't get in to our room, but the receptionist re-activated it quickly. Breakfast was OK, but when we got up for breakfast the last morning there wasn't any. We went to the reception to ask if we had missunderstood when breakfast would be served. The guy in the reception replyed: "What did they tell you when you checked in?" Then he started to call around to find out why there wasn't any breakfast. Well we got something to eat after waiting for 20 min... Our stay was OK though it didn't really meet up to the expectations we had from reading their website, but we wouldn't stay tehre again.
