Hotel MEDICI (WITHOUT FACILITIES)*

In the summer the hotel opens its rooftop terrace where guests can relax, sunbathe or simply enjoy the spectacular view of the Duomo which appears almost close enough to touch. There is no doubt that this family run hotel is in some need of refurbishment, however, this hotel offers excellent value for money.

John, 01/10/2007: Arrived, not thinking the hotel would be up to much - having seen it on other websites - the building work is finished and reception ( well desk and person ) is at street level. It is a bit hard to find from its map on the internet, as there are no obvious signs on the door that opens onto the street.

Having said that - I was very pleasentlt surprised ,... for £27 it was spot on. I had a room on the 6th floor - lift working and new - and a view over the city - with a door out to the roof terrace.

There was only a shower in the room, and the toilet is shared - but location, and cleaniness of room fantastic. Fitted out with a hard single bed and a writing desk and wardrobe - both must be over 20 years old -

No air con, but not a problem in October ... authough the day was warm the night was pleaseant.

Tip - take ID with you if you want to use internet in Italy. found price ranged from 1euro to 6 euros per hour depending on shop. Internet Train was most expensive.

Breakfast - roll and jam - tea or coffee - but ok for the price
