Nigel, 15/09/2008: Although I had been told that the hotel was of high quality, it wasn't while I was staying there. It was being renovated; so a colleague and I had to put up with workmen in corridors and blocking off parts of the car park, 24 hour working (machine tool use at midnight), temporary catering facilities that were difficult to get to through as there were no direct lifts and (to cap it all) an unannounced and sustained (more than one hour) loss of power and water on one evening.
None of the building work was announced on the Hotelsclick website, and I believe we were asked to pay the full standard rate. If this is the case, this wasn't justifiable for the period of the work.
