Chris, 05/06/2008: Overall very happy but room was on top floor and only had a small window which was difficult to open, a disadvantage as it was warm and sunny during our stay. OK for a weekend, especially as we were out most of the time, but would have been a too claustrophobic for any longer. There was no lift so older people would need to ask for a ground floor room.
Staff were very friendly especially the recepionist and head waiter.
Very comfortable lounge areas downstairs.
Easy access from southern outskirts of Edinburgh so an ideal location for anyone wanting to drive to Edinburgh and then use the frequent public transport which goes past the hotel. Also quieter than some more centrally situated hotels. Elevated position gives some very good views although not enjoyed by all rooms.
