The rooms and suites, recently redesigned in a soothing palette to provide the ultimate in comfortable luxury, are light, airy, uncluttered and fitted with insulated glass windows to ensure peaceful relaxation just steps from vibrant Union Square. Handsome maplewood armoires stencilled with silver leaves house entertainment units with television and honourbar. They are complemented with Bay Bridge artwork by Larry Cohen and vintage photos of the San Francisco Palace of the Fine Arts taken from Louis J. Stellmann's book That Was A Dream Worth Building . Vestibules and closets are lined in warm pearwood panels (suites feature cherrywood), invoking the feel of a private dressing room. Leather-topped writing desks and comfortable armchairs add functional elegance. The bathrooms feature elegant fixtures from Germany, deep soaking tubs and sand-coloured Portuguese limestone floors with French Beauharnais limestone countertops. A full selection of toiletries is provided for even more comfort. The décor and design of the guest rooms creates an ambience more of an impeccably designed residential oasis than a hotel accommodation.

Restaurant

Campton Place Restaurant, the fine dining restaurant, serves modern French cuisine that masterfully blends Mediterranean flavours, classical techniques and the richness of California’s ever-changing wonderfully fresh seasonal bounty. An extensive wine list is offered to complement the meal. The lunch and dinner menus, which change with the seasons, feature a choice of gourmet specialities. At dinner, in addition to three and four course menu options, a special seven course tasting menu is also available. Post-entrée, the restaurant offers a cheese course presenting a revolving selection of farmhouse and artisan cheeses, served tableside. The restaurant received four stars from The San Francisco Chronicle in 2005, and a 1,000-varietal wine list crowned the achievement.
