The James Chicago fills a niche between boutique hotels and traditional luxury hotels by creating a place that is designed and managed solely to make the guest feel at home. Lobby
The James incorporates contemporary design and compelling architecture, in a city famous for such, while remaining thoughtful, approachable and inviting to guests. The sophisticate interior utilizes deconstructed materials for wall and flooring surfaces, particularly in the dramatic steel, wood and glass staircase centerpiece which rises from the lobby to the second floor ballroom. A uniquely sky lit ceiling makes the ballroom beautifully aesthetic.
Exterior
The building, originally built in 1928 is traditional in style with a brick exterior. Steel awnings and large picture windows have been added in the complete renovations of 2006
Rooms
The James blends comfort, high-tech amenities and sleek, functional furniture to respond to today's traveler's needs. The 191 guestrooms and 52 studios feature a streamlined layout that features a dark wood platform bed, private dining niche, plasma screen TV, an iPod/MP3 docking station and a spacious slate-tiled and marbled bathroom. Guests can also customize their environment with dinner light switches.
Restaurant
David Burk's Primehouse is the second offering from B.R. Guest, Stephen Hanson's successful restaurant group, joining Blue Water Grill which is located a short walk from the hotel. Celebrity Chef David Burk continues to redefine Modern American Cuisine. David Burk's Steakhouse will feature a modern steakhouse menu.
