General

This hotel is very well located and offers the guest a unique concept in as much as everything is included, from the mini bar in the rooms, to the drinks in the hotel bar and use of the internet. The only exception is telephone calls. The recent renovation of this hotel also means that it is now one of the best first class properties in Amsterdam. jg/06/2004 This hotel has a fantastic location and comes highly recommended.

Location

This charming little hotel is ideally situated along Amsterdam's historical Herengracht, opposite the official residence of the mayor in a surprisingly quiet spot considering its central position. All museums and entertainment centres are within walking distance, as well as as the famous Amsterdam flower market and Rembrandtsplein.

Lobby

The lobby, like the rest of the hotel, was completely renovated in 2004 and is reminiscent of the art deco era, which is the time when the hotel was actually built. It has stained glass windows, wooden floors and an attractive wood reception desk. Extending from the lobby is the lounge area which has ample seating on multicoloured furniture, a feature fire place and a complimentary bar and internet corner The compact lobby area is fairly English in style with a predominantly Delft blue color scheme but the style of the furniture is reminiscent of an English country house. A cosy bar is incorporated into this area which is warmly decorated in deep colours.

Rooms

Due to the age of the building, all the bedrooms vary in size but are all medium and in quite good condition with blue and yellow color scheme and somewhat dated wicker furniture. The bathrooms are fairly basic.

Restaurant

The hotel does not have a restaurant. However, there is a breakfast room in the basement of the building which serves an appetising buffet selection although in somewhat dated surroundings with a small fish pond next to the buffet!
