Pastel shades, Venetian stuccoes, glass wall lamps made on Murano, furnishings which, while being functional, recall the glorious Serenissima epoch: these are the elements of the new hall and bar, completely mirrored on marvellous Istria stone. Right at the center of the hotel is an original glass cupola creating light effects which highlight its sophistication. The recently restored, characteristic internal patio onto which some of the rooms look out and where guests can enjoy breakfast or relax, using it as a peaceful open-air lounge, has a notable impact on guests. The elegant Bar Carlton Café offers you the chance to taste excellent drinks and whet your appetite with unusual snacks both in the internal room and in the open-air, enjoying an unforgettable stay on the Grand Canal. With a pleasant stroll along the characteristic calles, you can reach the famous Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square, and explore areas with very few tourists but which can be considered the most authentic and characteristic in Venice: San Polo with its famous Gothic Frari Church, Cannaregio with its antique Jewish Ghetto, Dorsoduro with the lively university area where, amidst art schools and artisan shops, you will find a vast number of typical restaurants where you can spend enjoyable evenings. From the hotel, you can easily reach the famous islands in the lagoon by water: Murano, Burano, and Torcello.

Exterior

Whether you come to Venice by car, train or air, the Hotel Carlton and Grand Canal is close to your arrival point because it is located in a strategic position as regards parking at Tronchetto and Piazzale Roma, Santa Lucia station and the public transport and water taxi landings. Do not hesitate to use our private landing, conveniently located in front of the hotel entrance on the Grand Canal. By plane: From "Marco Polo" Venice airport there are two ways of reaching the hotel: - by private water taxi, you will reach the hotel directly - by taking the "Venezia Air Terminal" direct bus service, you will reach Piazzale Roma in twenty minutes. From there, the hotel can be easily reached on foot in just 3 minutes by following the fondamenta which runs along the side of the Grand Canal. By train: Leave the station and you will see the hotel immediately overlooking the Grand Canal: cross the Scalzi Bridge and you will reach the hotel in just 3 minutes. By car: If you come to Venice by car, you can park in one of the numerous car parks in Piazzale Roma, the car terminal, from where the hotel can be easily reached on foot by following the fondamenta which runs alongside the Grand Canal.

All Double De Luxe rooms offer a splendid view over the Grand Canal! Our 150 rooms were completely renovated in 2001 in eighteenth-century Venetian style, thus providing you with a décor typical to the most prestigious and noble palaces of Venice – and all with the added advantage of the most up-to-date facilities. All the rooms have complete bathroom accessories, hair dryer, direct-line telephone, colour TV with satellite connection, fridge/bar, safe, and air conditioning.
