An excellent hotel, within walking distance of the tourist trail and yet, far enough away to offer a more peaceful alternative to the Temple Bar area. There is a frequent airlink bus service from the airport to Heuston railway station, which is situated a short distance from the Ashling. IMPORTANT: HOTEL UNDER RESTRUCTURING UNTIL APPROXIMATELY MARCH 2009. From Monday 14th January 2008 the hotel entrance will be accessed from Montpelier Hill at the rear of Parkgate Street. Don’t worry it will be well sign posted!! We will also be operating Cobblestones Bistro and our Guinness Lounge bar from here so no need for anyone to go hungry or thirsty!! Our multi storey car park (free to residents) will be in operation as usual along with several meeting rooms. During the period of construction we will be doing everything to minimize any possible disturbance or disruption to guests. The older part of the Ashling Hotel will be undergoing building works; this will be done over a 12-month period. The hotel will be fully open with both the bistro and Guinness bar operating as normal. Please Note: the main entrance to the hotel will now be located on Montpelier Hill at the rear of Parkgate street.
Location
The hotel is opposite the Guinness brewery, situated alongside the river Liffey. It is a fifteen minute walk from Temple Bar and the city centre, and two minutes from Heuston railway station.
Lobby
The lobby is medium in size and was the final part of the hotel interior to be refurbished, in February 1999.
Exterior
The facade of the hotel gives the property a traditional look, although the interior and annexe are very new.
Rooms
All the rooms were completed in August 1998, following a complete refit of the hotel, now under new management. They are medium in size, in excellent condition, decorated in yellows and blues.
Restaurant
The bistro is warm and informal, and adjacent to the traditional Irish bar.
